Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Diani. After a scenic drive along the coast, you'll arrive at the harbour, where a traditional wooden dhow boat awaits you. Onboard, you'll be welcomed with tea, coffee and light snacks as you set sail across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
Keep an eye out for dolphins – they often swim alongside the boat and are a true highlight of the journey. After about an hour, you'll reach the protected Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, a snorkelling paradise. Dive into the crystal-clear waters and explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with colourful fish, and maybe even spot rays or sea turtles.
Next, depending on the tides, you may stop at a stunning sandbank where you can relax, swim and take in the breathtaking surroundings. The dhow then sails on to Wasini Island, where a freshly prepared Swahili-style lunch awaits you – typically featuring catch-of-the-day seafood, chapati and flavourful local sides. After lunch, take a short guided walk through the peaceful island village. You may visit the ancient coral garden or, depending on the itinerary, the historical slave caves that tell stories of the island's past.
